New Membership Program Announcement

When we launched GQC in the spring of 2020 we had no idea that it would become such a valuable resource for guilds in search of professional virtual teachers. We have channelled our best efforts into developing and providing opportunities for you to market your virtual workshops and lectures. We have heard from many guilds and quilters who are very grateful to have found GQC. We made it easy for them to find you and helped them keep their guilds functioning through the pandemic shutdowns. They hired teachers they never would have been able to before and tell us they intend to continue to offer virtual content after the pandemic ends.

To say that 2020 was a steep learning curve for us would be a huge understatement! We took a hard look at how GQC operated in 2020 and after some intense listening and even more intense discussions, we would like to tell you about the changes we will make to keep GQC viable, valuable, and vital.

It has become clear that virtual teaching is here to stay and that GQC must adapt as it continues to grow into a critical resource for both guilds and teachers.  Some of the things that we have planned for 2021 include quarterly Quilt Guild Roundtables, a two day All-Star Virtual Sampler Platter event, quarterly Teacher Roundtables and three more Meet the Teachers Webinars scheduled for October.

Our new, simplified website will launch on March 1st with an improved teacher directory,  making it easier for guilds to find exactly what they are looking for. This was the biggest request we received from guilds.    We have added a new library of downloadable, printable, documents that are pre-sorted by subject  or delivery method, and a sortable master list that includes teacher locations, time zones, techniques and more.   All the documents include teacher emails and live links to their websites.

We have also added the talented Mel Beach to the team as our social media manager. She will work to grow our online presence so that we can provide you with even more opportunities to market your virtual classes.  It is our goal to position GQC as the best resource for guilds looking to connect with professional virtual teachers.

Finally, after much discussion, we have decided to move to a yearly membership platform.  Here’s what that means for you:

First of all let us assure you that if you have presented at a GQC webinar in 2020 or in February 2021 then your membership will not expire until 2/28/2022.  This means that your listing on the GQC website and your membership in the teacher facebook group will remain active until 2/28/2022.

You have the option to renew your membership for a second year without presenting at a new webinar.  After that time, if you wish to renew for a third year you will need to create a new video for an upcoming live webinar.  The registration fee for presenting at a GQC webinar or to renew your listing on the website will be $75

If you have new offerings and wish to present a new video at an upcoming webinar before your year’s membership is up, you must pay a new registration fee. Your 1 year membership will be reset to 1 year from the date of your most recent webinar presentation.  For instance, if your membership expires on 2/28/2022 but you present at one of the October 2021 webinars then your membership date will be reset and will expire at the end of October 2022.

Your Global Quilt Connection membership includes:

• Opportunities to share your virtual offerings via a live zoom webinar to a global audience

• Your lectures and/or workshops marketed to a targeted audience to thousands of guilds

• Your name listed on GQC website teacher directory page with links directly to your website

• Your information included in all of the searchable documents available to thousands of guilds and potential students on the GQC website

• Membership to a supportive community of virtual teachers on FaceBook

• Quarterly teacher roundtable discussions via Zoom

• Access to valuable informational resources for virtual teachers

• Opportunity to apply for the yearly virtual sampler platter event

• Your membership will expire one year from the date of the webinar your video is presented at

• Webinar recordings stay live on the GQC website for two years
